Breakfast at Palazzo Malaspina
B&B Palazzo Malaspina in Chianti – The Breakfast
In our B&B in Tuscany, this is one of the most characteristic moments of the day. The breakfast is served by Maria herself. The accuracy of the service, along with ongoing research on organic products of high quality, makes every day breakfast at the B&B Palazzo Malaspina the perfect time to start your day in Chianti in the best way!
The breakfast hall is in the oldest part of the building, in what was once known as the ‘Salone Grande‘, where guests were received by the noble families Ticci and Malaspina and great entertaining took place with much pomp and ceremony: elaborate dinners, music, and dancing.
During the restorations in 2002, many interesting architectural features were uncovered, such as the medieval architrave, a stone-framed window dated back to the 1200s (one of only two left in Chianti; the other one is in the area near St. George’s Church), and a large portal, now buffered, that in the past was the entrance to the medieval tower, the original nucleus around which the Renaissance Palace was later built.
Today’s morning activities are a little calmer and the pace slower, but it is here in this room steeped in history that guests can enjoy a sumptuous buffet breakfast featuring freshly squeezed orange juice, seasonal fruit, local pecorino cheese and prosciutto ham, crepes, yoghurt, muesli, tea and coffee expressly brewed, and Maria’s delicious home-baked cakes, biscuits, marmalades, and her famed tomato and onion chutney.
At arrival, you will receive a courtesy tourist map of the area and Florence as well. Between a cappuccino made with coffee beans coming directly from Naples and a slice of pie, Mrs. Maria will be glad to suggest things to see in Chianti and things to see in Tuscany, such as medieval villages, churches, abbeys, or simply… cellars, where booking a guided tour and tasting, or even tours in Florence and Siena, is possible, and suggest you even the cheaper parking as well as the best local restaurants.
